Today is my Mother's birthday.  She would have been 71.  A few years ago I took an encaustic workshop with a friend at Capilano College in North Vancouver.  So much fun!  I was really pleased with the results and sent this pear to my Mom across the country as a gift.  Encaustic is layers of oil tinted melted wax.  You need to work quickly as the wax dries almost as soon as it leaves the brush.  My future plans include an independent studio large enough with proper ventilation to do more and more of this type of art.
